IPP acquires Zentek’s plastic pallet pooling operation
January 18, 2021, Cologne – Zentek has sold its plastic pallet pooling operation to IPP, effective January 1, 2021. The move comes as Zentek continues to focus on its core waste management business involving nationwide site disposal, the disposal of transport packaging and old electrical devices as well as the dual system Zentek.
“We founded our subsidiary Zentek Pool System seven years ago as a smart solution for reusable load carriers,” explained Zentek managing director Christoph Ley on the occasion of the sale. “For strategic reasons and because the importance of the circular economy is growing significantly, we have decided to further strengthen our core business and to sell the pooling activities.
Now with IPP, a subsidiary of the Faber Halbertsma Group, Zentek is pleased that an efficient buyer has been found for the line of business. Faber Halbertsma has been in family hands since it was founded in 1891. “IPP fully shares our high-quality standards,” said Ley. The company maintains a Europe-wide depot network, is one of the leading European companies in this business area, and cooperates with many leading European branded goods and manufacturers as well as a large number of retailers.
You always react to the demands of the market and offer your customers a broad portfolio of load carriers and pooling services, commented Stefan Herbergs, IPP managing director. So far, a smaller plastic pallet pool has been maintained. “Therefore, the takeover of the entire pooling business from Zentek means a big step for the successful expansion of our offer”, he said. The plastic pallet market should serve as an important pillar for his company in the future, the Zentek release concluded.
According to the Zentek pooling system website, Zentek pallets are made in Germany in the Euro format by Georg Utz GmbH.
With its strengths, the Zentek plastic pallet perfectly fits into existing processes across companies, splinter and blockage free. Its peak values speak for themselves: the fiberglass-reinforced plastic carries a static load of 4,000 kg and 1,500 kg in a high-bay warehouse. Its low height automatically makes no-load transports more efficient. Its constant tare weight of only 17 kg provides for consistent TARE determination. Several handgrips enable easy ergonomic handling. The deck is equipped with anti-slip elastomers and without limiting stacking edges and central box. For full surface area utilization and ensuring hygiene standards.
Every Zentek plastic pallet is fitted with a GRAI according to GS1 standard. A serialized, globally zero-overlap code, which makes the reusable load carrier and the products unequivocally identifiable at any time. The GRAI is read via barcode, Data Matrix and RFID. Corresponding robust transponders are built into the Zentek plastic pallet. With this equipment, the Zentek plastic pallet is well prepared for further developments in sensor technology as well as the automation of the supply chain…
Last year, Faber Halbertsma Group sold its pallet manufacturing plants. Its Dutch and Belgian pallet production operations were acquired by Foresco Group, while Archimbaud Group purchased Francepal, its pallet manufacturing operation in France. “The focus of the Faber Halbertsma Group is increasingly on the pooling of wooden and plastic pallets, boxes and crates throughout Europe,” Ingrid Faber, FHG CEO commented at the time. “As a result, production companies fit less into the group’s strategy. That is why now is the perfect time to take over the production companies.”
