The city of Valencia in Spain will host from 3 till 5 October 2012 the European industry of the wood pallet and packaging during the 63rd FEFPEB Congress. The Spanish Federation of Wood Packaging and Components (FEDEMCO) and the Association of Manufacturers of Pallet and Wood Products for Maintenance (FAPROMA), as FEFPEB members, will co-organize and host this meeting together with the European organization.
The European Federation of Manufacturers of Wooden Pallets and Packaging (FEFPEB) comprises national organizations in 14 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The United Kingdom and Turkey as well as GROW International, multinationals and individual companies within the value chain.
According to Eurostat, the European sector in 2010 produced products worth over 6,500 million Euros (600 in Spain), employing directly more than 80 thousand people. The wooden pallets and other load platforms outstand with more than 450 million new units (40 in Spain) and the manufacture of more than 2.3 million tons of other products such as wood industrial packaging, boxes, crates, cases, etc. (340 thousand in Spain). The sector, which consumes between 20 and 25% of European lumber, processed in 2010 more than 24 million cubic meters.
Among the FEFPEB objectives of promoting and defending the interests of industry, the Congress in Valencia, through a program of visits, conferences and events, will allow the debate on the challenges and opportunities of the industry with a regional, European and global focus, as well as information exchange and cooperation among its members, suppliers and sponsors.
