WARRENS, Wis. – UFP Packaging, an affiliate of UFP Industries, has expanded its presence in Warrens, Wisconsin. The company cut the ribbon on a new 11,840 sq.-ft. production facility and 2,400 sq.-ft. employee breakroom on February 21, 2024. The new production facility will produce a variety of wood packaging and allow the company to add up to 12 new positions. The addition brings the facility’s total manufacturing space to approximately 40,000 sq. ft.
The new breakroom showcases the design and custom cabinetry of another UFP affiliate, Quest Design & Millwork, based in Stafford, Texas. The modern space includes enough room to accommodate the growing team at UFP Packaging.
“We’re very excited for these additions and how they will enhance our world-class workspace for employees,” said Jeremy Brach, director of operations. “UFP Packaging is growing in Wisconsin, and we’re thrilled that our growth will help us better serve all of our stakeholders, which include our customers, our employees and our communities.”
This recent move follows a busy 2023 for UFP Packaging. In 2023, the company undertook significant initiatives to expand its global and national footprint in the packaging and pallet industry. In Spain, UFP Global Holdings Ltd. acquired 80% equity in UFP Palets y Embalajes SL, formed from the pallet manufacturing operations of the Palets Suller Group. With this acquisition, valued at approximately $52 million USD, UFP Packaging secured a leading position in the machine-built wood pallet market serving Spain’s robust ceramic tile industry and set the stage for further expansion in Europe. Samuel Suller Oliver, founder and CEO of the original group, retained a 20% stake, ensuring continuity and leveraging his expertise to grow the business under the UFP umbrella.
Expanding its operations to Mexico, UFP Global Holdings acquired the remaining interests in NORPAL S. de R.L. de C.V. and TIBASA Universal Forest Products S. de R.L. de C.V., merging them into UFP Palets y Embalajes S. de R.L. de C.V. This move consolidates UFP’s presence in Monterrey, Durango, and Guanajuato, focusing on wooden pallet production and exploring growth in structural packaging. The initiative underscores UFP’s commitment to enhancing its packaging solutions across Mexico, supporting multinational customers, and fostering growth opportunities for its regional employees and operations.
Simultaneously, within the United States, UFP Packaging announced the national expansion of its PalletOne business unit, making it the first wholly owned coast-to-coast pallet supplier. This strategic development involves the integration of PalletOne automated manufacturing lines into more than 70 UFP Packaging facilities, with potential for further expansion.
