GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – November 4, 2025 — UFP Packaging announced that its corrugated division has earned both Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) Chain of Custody certifications, reinforcing its commitment to responsible fiber sourcing and verified sustainability throughout its supply chain.
“These certifications build on sustainable practices we’ve followed for years, such as maximizing yield from each log to reduce wood waste,” said Nick Hoffman, Vice President of Protective Packaging. “As a supplier to the corrugated industry, we are proud to give our customers the confidence that their packaging choices support responsible sourcing and environmental stewardship.”

Strengthening Confidence in Corrugated Sustainability
The FSC and SFI Chain of Custody standards are widely recognized as benchmarks for tracking certified material through each stage of production. Products bearing these marks indicate that fiber originates from forests managed to rigorous social, environmental, and economic standards.
In the corrugated sector, documented sourcing is increasingly valuable as brand owners, retailers, and industrial customers incorporate verifiable material data into ESG reporting and procurement criteria. Chain of Custody certification has become a differentiator for converters, especially as bid requirements more often request proof of certified content.
UFP Packaging’s Jeffersonville, Indiana facility, which operates high-speed flexo folder-gluer equipment for stock boxes and custom runs, now produces certified packaging under codes FSC™ C221284 and SFI-03837. The site supports hundreds of stock SKUs and offers custom displays, shelf-ready packaging, and e-commerce solutions with advanced digital printing and die-cutting.

Certifications Within a Broader Sustainability Approach
UFP Packaging is the largest producer of wooden pallets and crates in the United States, and its expanding corrugated capabilities reflect a multi-material approach to packaging innovation. The new certifications align with customer goals to improve yield, reduce waste, and support Scope 3 reporting with traceable inputs.
Across the industry, momentum for certified corrugated materials continues to grow, supported by Chain of Custody systems that link sustainability commitments with verifiable data from forest to finished box. This emphasis on traceability complements the principles of sustainable packaging systems that many supply chains are adopting.
