New Poultry RPC to Serve Surging Specialty Cuts and Small-Batch Processing

Tosca, a leading provider of reusable transport packaging systems, has launched its Poultry Crate 4319, a smaller-footprint reusable plastic container designed for the rising volume of premium and specialty poultry products. As processors expand offerings such as ground chicken, marinated portions, organic cuts, and liver cups, packaging must match smaller batch sizes without compromising durability, cleanliness, or food-safety performance.
“Innovation in poultry isn’t just happening on the product side—it has to happen in packaging too,” said Scott Schimming, VP of Commercial Sales at Tosca. He noted that processors need packaging built specifically for short runs that reduces leakage, minimizes contamination risk, and protects high-value SKUs.
The 4319 crate is half the size of a standard poultry container, weighs 2.5 lbs, and stacks densely: 260 per pallet and 15,600 per truckload. The design supports lower transportation costs and improved back-room storage efficiency. Its leak-retention channels and reinforced structure—rated at four times the strength of corrugated—address a major operational pain point by reducing product loss, contamination, and cleanup time in processing and distribution environments.
The new crate expands Tosca’s poultry RPC portfolio with a fully compatible option tailored for specialty cuts while maintaining consistent handling and automation performance across the system.
Tosca will supply the crate through its national pooling network, covering retrieval, sanitation, and reuse to ensure steady availability. The Poultry Crate 4319 is available immediately for pilot or program deployment.
