Fresh off receiving the Builders’ Merchants Federation 2025 Sustainability Award, The Pallet LOOP accelerates its impact with a faster, free pallet collection service across the UK mainland.

The Pallet LOOP, part of timber and forestry business BSW Group, has been named winner of the 2025 Sustainability Award by the Builders’ Merchants Federation (BMF), recognition of the company’s rapid progress in driving circularity and waste reduction in the UK construction supply chain.
The honour comes as The Pallet LOOP unveils a major operational upgrade: a new three-day pallet collection service, now offered free of charge to all customers nationwide.
Accelerating the Circular Model
Effective immediately, all pallet collections booked through The Pallet LOOP’s national recovery network will be completed within three working days. This new service replaces the former 10-day option, reflecting the company’s growing commitment to customer service, supply-chain efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
Under the scheme, businesses earn between £2 and £4 for every LOOP pallet returned, ensuring pallets are continuously reused rather than discarded. Pallet recipients will benefit from reduced on-site storage requirements, freeing up valuable yard and warehouse space; enhanced sustainability, as pallets re-enter circulation faster instead of being damaged or scrapped; and improved customer satisfaction, particularly in space-constrained urban areas where faster turnaround is a priority.
Andy Williamson, Managing Director of The Pallet LOOP, said the change underscores the company’s mission to close the loop on pallet waste. “Offering a prompt collection service is another critical step in delivering on our circular economy model,” he said. “No one wants to see LOOP pallets taking up valuable space. By guaranteeing collection within three business days, we’re making life easier for customers and ensuring pallets get back into circulation where they belong. It’s an operational shift that benefits the circular economy, the building materials supply chain, and the environment.”
Collections of 50 or more pallets (green or white) remain free under the new model. Smaller collections will incur a £100 charge, while standard white pallets returned individually will cost £2 each.
Recognition for Industry Leadership
The operational upgrade follows a landmark year for The Pallet LOOP, which issued its first circular-economy pallets to the UK construction sector in May 2024 in partnership with British Gypsum and manufacturing partner Scott Pallets.
Eighteen months later, LOOP’s distinctive green pallets are in use by five major building-materials manufacturers—British Gypsum, Isover, Superglass, Wienerberger UK, and Cemex—and the system is now active in Ireland through collaboration with CJ Sheeran.
This rapid expansion helped earn the company the BMF’s top sustainability honour. “The Pallet LOOP are worthy winners of the BMF Sustainability Award,” said John Newcomb, CEO of the BMF. “Their work sets new standards in transforming pallets into a sustainable asset.”
Accepting the award, Rob Devonshire, Account Manager for Merchants at The Pallet LOOP, highlighted the shared effort behind the model’s success. “This accolade recognises organisations that demonstrate leadership and measurable progress in advancing environmental responsibility across the construction sector,” he said. “It reflects the collective effort of our partners, customers, merchants, housebuilders, and contractors who are sending pallets back en masse. Together, we’re reducing waste, improving timber efficiency, and building a greener future.”
