Leading Swedish RPC pooling provider Svenska Retursystem AB has signed an agreement with Corem for the lease of approximately 30,000 sqm in Västerås, over 60 miles west of Stockholm. The lease runs for 15 years with an annual rental value of approximately SEK 16.2 million (just under $US2 million). The building will house washing and distribution activities related to its reusable plastic container (RPC) and plastic pallet rental service to the grocery and food industry.
Corem will acquire approximately 66,000 square meters of land by the City of Västerås and erect the new Svenska Retursystem facility. Estimated project cost is approximately 215 million (over $US25 million), including land acquisition, amounts to over 16 million. Occupancy is scheduled for March 2017. The building will be classified according to green building and all the material made in accordance with the Healthy House database of non-environmentally harmful substances.
“We look forward to further cooperation with Corem and together ensure that this important project for the Swedish Return System’s continued growth will be successful,” says Anna Elgh, CEO of Swedish Return System.
Swedish Return System currently has four plants, one of which is located in Corems property in Mölnlycke Logistics Park. The plant in Västerås will be Swedish Retursystem largest and handle about 70 million returnable boxes per year.
“We think it’s a great honor to have been commissioned to construct Svenska Retursystem’s largest plant. Svenska Retursystem is an interesting and growing company that streamlines and environmentally sound trade flows for the retail industry. We see Vasteras as an interesting market and are excited to get an additional unit in an expansive region “says Eva Landen, CEO of Corem
