Leader in supply chain visibility brings its expertise to the racing circuit.

Green, OH – – Surgere, a leading company in IoT supply chain visibility, has announced the formation of its Motorsports Division. Michael Wappler will head the new division as Vice President.
Motorsports has been an integral part of Surgere since its inception. Speed and accuracy are synonymous with racing. With wins and losses decided in fractions of seconds, there is no time to waste. The ability to monitor and capture real-time performance and convert that data into a winning strategy is every race team’s wish. Surgere works across many of the largest automotive OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, and shares a passion for automotive innovation, excellence, and the love of driving. Surgere is currently a sponsor of Parker Thompson, a driver on the JDX racing team in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America series.
“The ability to understand the miles and wear and tear of parts in real-time saves dollars and drives performance. At Surgere, our patented software and certified hardware help race teams gain visibility into part genealogy: monitoring authenticity, mileage, usage, or consumption per part for race regulations,” Michael Wappler explains. “We recognize that supply chain is everywhere, even on the track. Our formal move into motorsports will help improve efficiency and reduce costs for racing teams. Whether you are racing in Indy, IMSA, or Formula One, our 99.9% data accuracy will improve the chances for success and profit.”
Surgere will deploy RFID technologies designed especially for the racing industry. The tracking of parts, the ability to understand the miles, and wear and tear in real-time can make the difference between a small expense and a major expense. Surgere’s class-leading software and certified hardware will help race teams track expensive equipment, car, and part conditions, and gather accurate data to improve performance at new levels.
“Racing teams have three key elements that are always a concern: the safety of parts used, the quality of parts testing, and making sure that everything is maintained properly,” says Wappler. “Secure and accurate technology solutions to supply chain problems is what is needed. Surgere’s ability to expand visibility into the physical supply chain through our software, IoT-based sensors and asset identity hardware will address these issues making teams more efficient through data accuracy thus reducing costs.”
Michael Wappler began his career at Surgere as an Intern in 2010 and was promoted to Client Services Representative to Manager of Client Services. Later, he became Director of Sales and Marketing, which transitioned into Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Before being named to head of Motorsports, Michael successfully managed the Strategic Sales Team and was responsible for onboarding 1,800 client locations over the past two years. Michael’s expertise comes from years of experience with the company. He has seen how solutions were built and how Surgere has overcome many challenges in the industry.
