Solar-Flex Pallet results from an IP-Group and PVpallet strategic partnership to market the innovative reusable solution for solar panels in the European market.

I recently caught up with Halmstad, Sweden-based IP-Group. I was joined on a Zoom call by Tobias Josefson, Managing Director at IPG Intelligent Packaging Group AB and Geir Vidar Persen, Sales Director at IP-Group. IP-Group, a leader in sustainable packaging solutions in Europe, announced earlier this month that it has entered into a strategic partnership with PVpallet, an American-based provider of innovative solar packaging. This collaboration aims to overhaul solar shipping and packaging standards across Europe by expanding the distribution of PVpallet’s patented solar panel pallet.
The PVpallet Series X, a pallet engineered to cater to the unique demands of the solar industry, will be marketed and sold as the Solar-Flex Pallet in Europe by IP-Group. This innovative pallet merges sustainability with utility, offering a reusable, recyclable, stackable, and collapsible packaging option for solar panels. Constructed from post-consumer HDPE plastic with a steel-reinforced base, the Solar-Flex Pallet safeguards solar panels during transport and reduces packaging waste. Adjustable sidewalls ensure compatibility with various module sizes, and a collapsible design promotes return shipping and warehouse storage efficiency.
“PVpallet’s solar panel pallet aligns seamlessly with our 20-year legacy of providing innovative and environmentally conscious packaging to our customers,” stated Persen. This partnership represents a pivotal step towards a more sustainable European solar industry.” According to Persen, the two companies began a dialogue about how PVpallet might enter the European market six months prior.
From IP-Group’s perspective, entering the European market requires a particular skill set. “You need to understand the business, the recycling, the return and everything like that,” Persen noted. Those early conversations led to the strategic partnership and a rebranding of the PVpallet Series X as the Solar-Flex Pallet for Europe. IP-Group intends to offer a rental model, an approach the company offers for other products.
Both Josefson and Persen are extremely impressed with Solar-Flex’s capabilities. They note that it is reusable, eliminating solid waste while also reducing solar panel damage. Solar-Flex unit loads can be stacked four units high, creating storage and freight efficiencies. Of course, the collapsible design ensures a great return ratio for empty pallets. They envision the Solar-Flex Pallet being suitable for other goods – such as doors and other products of similar geometry.
In the launch press release, PVpallet CEO and Co-founder Philip Schwarz commented, “Uniting with a veteran like IP-Group is more than an expansion into the European market—it’s a partnership of values and vision. Together, we can build circularity into solar packaging.”
“Entering the European market with IP-Group is a landmark partnership,” added Craig Morse, Director of Sales at PVpallet. “Their expertise in reusable packaging is not just impressive—it’s exactly what the solar industry needs to help reduce both costs and waste.”
The agreement between IP-Group and PVpallet provides solar professionals throughout Europe with an innovative solution informed by decades of packaging expertise. The uptake of reusable packaging systems for industries such as solar and construction more generally continues to grow, and this is the latest example.
