Loadhog, a leading name in packaging innovation, has collaborated with partners in the post, parcel, and ecommerce sectors to craft a groundbreaking rolling container system. This advanced system offers enhanced versatility, superior vehicle fill, heightened handling efficiency, and notable carbon reductions compared to currently available systems.
The innovative modular system designed by Loadhog can be modified for both transport and storage. This adaptability allows for the organized transportation of various goods in different container types, the inclusion of loose items within a bulk sleeve, and the combination of different items using Loadhog’s Sleeve Stacking Tray. The newly designed dolly base lets users easily adjust to the varying types of goods in their logistics network.
Its adaptability has secured Loadhog an impressive order of 10,000 units. These units will play a crucial role in a new initiative by a major automotive parts distributor, serving independent garages, automotive retailers, and direct-to-home deliveries.
Recognizing a market trend for alternatives to conventional roll cages, wrapped pallets, and pallet shippers, Loadhog’s R&D unit embarked on the journey of creating this new rolling container system.
Their new invention, dubbed “Dolly Max,” introduces a cutting-edge one-touch brake mechanism, a marked improvement over the rudimentary castor brake commonly seen in today’s roll cages. This ensures the brake is consistently engaged. Furthermore, when it comes to transport, the system promises efficiency with an over 20% increase in vehicle fill compared to regular roll cages. This is attributed to its design which adheres to the standard ½ EU footprint and maximizes capacity.
Both designs are tailored to be disassembled and returned efficiently. The bulk variant features a 3/1 return ratio, ergonomic sleeve locks, and sizable safety shoe access, all of which streamline system disassembly. The rolling containers have the added functionality of being connectable and maneuverable by AGVs, which cuts down marshaling time. Additionally, nesting and stacking on MHE further expedite the process of transporting multiple empty units.
Safety is paramount for Loadhog’s Dolly Max. It outshines other systems with features such as a high coefficient of friction for the brake, ensuring stability even on inclined surfaces. Unlike traditional roll cages, it has no sharp metal points, it doesn’t necessitate MHE like standard pallet shippers, and its straightforward brake operation guarantees continual engagement.
In a testament to their continual innovation, Loadhog was honored with the King’s Award for Innovation in 2023 for their Pallet Lid invention, designed to sit atop the rolling container system. This lid consolidates the load for transport, eliminating the need for stretch wraps or bands.
