Record Number of Exhibitors Fill RPA’s Expanded Reusable Packaging Pavilion

The RPA has announced that 37 suppliers of reusable solutions will fill the Reusable Packaging Association’s Reusable Packaging Pavilion at PACK EXPO 2014 in Chicago. This will be the largest exhibit space and most exhibitors ever in the popular pavilion.

“The demand for reusables and for information about how to increase their adoption and ROI keeps growing,” says Jerry Welcome, President of the RPA. “PACK EXPO attendees tell us repeatedly that the pavilion and our Reusables Learning Center are an ideal one-stop forum for all their educational and product information needs.”

Some 37 manufacturers, material suppliers, providers of washing and other specialty equipment, and poolers and service providers of reusable packaging systems and solutions will come togther into one highly visible and convenient location at the pavilion. A powerful drawing card, having all these resources in one place helps attendees get complete information about reusables, whether they are just starting with implementation or they want to evolve their supply chains further to gain more efficiencies and cost savings.

The pavilion will include the RPA’s Reusables Learning Center (Booth 6866), a presentation area where end-users will give firsthand accounts about their experiences with reusables, and RPA member companies will present research and information on trends and new products and services. Attendance at presentations in the center in 2013, the first year for the forum, was very strong, demonstrating the demand for educational sessions about reusables.

The RPA Reusable Packaging Pavilion will be located in the Lakeside Center of McCormick Place at PACK EXPO. CHEP, IFCO Systems, and Rehrig Pacific Company are headline sponsors of RPA activities for attendees at PACK EXPO. Supporting sponsors include reLogistics Services LLC, SSI Schaefer, Coroplast, and APR Allen Plastics Repair. To find out more information about RPA activities at PACK EXPO, click here.

Plastic Pallet Theft Ring Broken by Private Investigator

A plastic pallet theft ring was recently broken in Houston, Texas, according to media reports. With theft of plastic containers and pallets amounting to as much as $10 million from such unsecure locations at retail outlets, local retailers had hired a private investigator. He followed thieves back to a warehouse and discovered a conveyor belt and two shredding machines. Police arrested one of the warehouse owners and charged him with felony theft. Pallets and containers were being shredded, reportedly for export.

Still Time to Apply for Excellence in Reusable Packaging Award

excellenceThere is still plenty of time to apply for this year’s Excellence in Reusable Packaging Award. Don’t miss this important opportunity to celebrate your reusable packaging success, or if you are a vendor, the success of your customers. Even better news, each company applying wins a year’s free membership to RPA.

With submissions due by June 13, the award acknowledges organizations that have developed, supported, or implemented measurable and innovative reusable solutions in a business-to-business supply chain.  This competition is not just for RPA members. Non-members are also encouraged to enter. An independent committee of judges who are not members of the RPA will review the applications. The award is sponsored by International Contract Molding, LLC, (ICM) an Otto Company.  The application form can be found at this link.
