Here is an international list of upcoming events that have significance for pallet and reusable packaging vendors, pooling providers and reusable program managers, depending upon relevant industry verticals. The Excellence in Reusable Packaging Award is presented annually at the Reusable Packaging Forum at PACK EXPO.

January 13-17, 2017, Western Pallet Association Annual Meeting, Palm Springs, California

The Western Pallet Association holds its Annual Meeting every January in Rancho Mirage, California, close to Palm Springs. This meeting provides its members, predominantly participants in the wood pallet sector, with crucial operational, market and regulatory information. Other highlights include three networking receptions as well as golfing opportunities.


February 6-8, 2017, The Packaging Conference, Tampa Bay, Florida

The Packaging Conference is designed to deliver the latest information to participants in the packaging supply chain, including retailers, brand owners, technology providers and equipment manufacturers. The $1,950 registration fee is discounted by $200 until January 23.


February 7-9, 2017, WestPack, Anaheim, California

The WestPack expo delivers more than 2,200 solution providers in one convenient location. Innovative benefits include the packaging speed networking session as well as the curated one-hour expo tours. Topics covered in the tours include plastics and injection molding, advancements in robotics, and packaging automation.


February 8 – 9, 2017, Cargo Logistics Canada, Vancouver, British Columbia

Cargo Logistics Canada (CLC) addresses the needs of cargo owners, managers, and agents who contract the flow of goods through Canadian supply chains. CLC encompasses the entire cargo spectrum – all major transportation modes and all cargo types, under one roof.


February 12-15, 2017, Retail Supply Chain Conference, Orlando, Florida

An event that features a comprehensive list of presentations, organizers of the Retail Supply Chain Conference describe it as the “must-attend event of the year for supply chain executives.” Nine of the top ten retail companies attend each year.  Discover new and Creative Solutions to a host ofComplex Challenges alongside top supply chain executives. 9 of the top 10 retail companies attend each year.


Feb. 27-March 1, 2017, PACK EXPO East, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Billed as the top regional packaging show on the East Coast, PACK EXPO East creates an opportunity for buyers to meet with 400 top suppliers over 100,000 square feet of exhibition space. The show floor also features the Innovation Stage, which provides free 30-minute seminars throughout the day.


March 1-2, 2017, Packaging Innovations, Birmingham, UK

Packaging Innovations (inc. Ecopack and Contact Pack), co-located Empack & Label&Print, is the only UK event to cover the whole packaging supply chain.


March 7 – 9, 2017, ISTA European Packaging Symposium, Valencia, Spain

March 8 – 10, 2017, NWPCA’s Annual Leadership Conference, Tucson, Arizona

The National Wooden Pallet and Container Association’s premier annual event, this year’s conference features Ken Schmidt as keynote speaker. Schmidt, a brand visionary and former Director of Communications Strategy for Harley-Davidson, played a pivotal role in turning around that brand.

April 3-6, 2017  , PROMAT 2017, Chicago, Illinois

PROMAT is North America’s largest expo for manufacturing and supply chain professionals, also featuring the participation of the Reusable Packaging Association and member companies. It features more than 850 exhibitors, featuring the latest in supply chain equipment and technologies, including robotics, autonomous vehicles, warehouse automation,  track and trace technologies, and more. Also, over 100 educational sessions are offered, including both show floor seminars as well as keynote addresses.


April 3-6. 2017, Reusable Packaging Forum at PROMAT 2017, Chicago, Illinois

“RPA is partnering with MHI to host a reusable packaging pavilion on the ProMat 2017 trade show floor where RPA members can locate their booths and form a central location for all things reusable.  RPA will also hold its Education Forum adjacent to the Pavilion where attendees can learn about market trends and industry issues impacting reusable packaging in the supply chain.”  (from RPA website).


April 4 – 6. 2017, ProFood Tech, Chicago, Illinois

Launched for the first time in 2017, organizers say this is the only event in North America focused exclusively on all food and beverage sectors. They anticipate welcoming 6,000 processing professionals, exhibits from more than 400 top international suppliers, 150,000 net square feet of exhibition space and 45 hours of educational programming.


April 18 – 21, 2017, ISTA Transpack, Orlando, Florida

Focused on transport packaging professionals, the ISTA Transpack Forum offers presentations touching upon the latest technologies and research techniques in transport packaging and physical distribution, including case studies, research results, and other information.


May 2 – 4, 2017, Wood Pallet Design and Performance, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia

Topics include: Effect of pallet design and selection on materials handling costs; fundamentals of new and remanufactured stringer class pallet design; designing block class pallets; designing stringer and block class pallets using PDS™.

The Canadian Produce Marketing Associations’s Annual Convention & Trade Show is the largest event serving the Canadian fresh produce supply chain. It attracts more than 3,000 participants.

June 1, 2017, June Packaging Technical Networking Session, Detroit (Southfield), Michigan

This the first of two half-day events scheduled for 2017 by AIAG for automotive industry decision makers. Building on previous participant recommendations, the focus will be on the latest industry trends, innovations, and their associated technologies.  Planned speakers will be directly associated with electronics packaging, mobility, and electrified vehicles.

June 13-15, 2017 , Global Cold Chain Expo, Chicago, Illinois

Now in its second year, the Global Cold Chain Expo is a partnership between the Global Cold Chain Alliance and United Fresh. The event brings together some major shows. These include FMI Connect, the International Floriculture Expo, and United Fresh Show. The collaborative effort showcases the role of the cold chain in the perishable supply chain. The 2017 edition is expected to attract more than 15,000 key decision makers from retail, foodservice, processing, production, distribution, logistics, and transportation.  A single ticket gains admission to United FreshMKT Expo, United FreshTEC Expo, Global Cold Chain Expo and International Floriculture Expo.

September 25-27, 2017 , PACK EXPO Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada

PACK EXPO Las Vegas will be North America’s premier packaging event in 2017, featuring over 800,000 square feet of exhibition space and boasting over 30,000 attendees. PACK EXPO includes the Reusable Packaging Association’s Reusable Packaging Pavilion and the Reusable Packaging Learning Center. Other educational opportunities at PACK EXPO are offered through presentations at the Innovation Stage and at the Food Safety Summit Resource Center.   


September 25-27, 2017, Reusable Packaging Forum at PACK EXPO Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada

Located at PACK EXPO Las Vegas, RPA’s Reusable Packaging Pavilion provides the opportunity to co-locate exhibiting members in a single trade show dedicated to reusable packaging services and products. RPA also hosts the Reusable Packaging Learning Center. Held at the Pavilion, the Learning Center features a  lineup of speakers and panelists who present information on new developments in reusable packaging and share insights on product applications, performance and impact.

October 19-21, 2017, PMA Fresh Summit, New Orleans, Louisiana

The Produce Marketing Association is looking to build on the success of its 2016 Fresh Summit in Orlando, which broke an East Coast record with over 20,000 attendees, and 1,200 exhibitors. The Fresh Summit provides opportunities to expose its members to the latest in innovation, networking opportunities, and professional education to help them grow successful businesses.


November 2-3, 2017, AIPIA World Congress, Amsterdam, Netherlands
