- CHEP wins the German Innovation Award 2021 in two categories
- New CHEP Services Promotion World and Promotion Analytics come out on top in the “Excellence in Business to Business” competition class
Cologne – CHEP impressed the jury with two services at this year’s German Innovation Award in the “Excellence in Business to Business” category: the new Service Promotion Analytics won in the Logistics & Infrastructure category and Service Promotion World, which was launched at the end of 2020, won in the Retail & Trade Solutions category. Both services are the result of CHEP’s high level of industry expertise coupled with a forward-looking solution concept that helps its customers to overcome their current challenges in retail and logistics.
The German Innovation Award honors international and cross-sector innovations that stand out from previous solutions, above all through user-centricity and added value. The organizer is the German Design Council, an independent and internationally active institution for communication and knowledge transfer in the field of design, brand, and innovation.
Retail & Trade: Full Service for point-of-sale displays
CHEP Promotion World is a low-risk service concept specially designed for agile requirements. Start-ups, but also medium-sized companies, can use it to place their goods flexibly and easily in the retail sector. Point of sale (POS) displays are one of the most common forms of sales promotion, but their implementation is often complex and time-consuming, e.g. due to the contracting of different service providers.
CHEP Promotion World provides a simple, low-risk, and flexible all-in-one solution for display promotions. Customers receive the pallet, display, co-packing, and logistics from a single source – and that already from an order quantity of 50 pieces. The display can be flexibly assembled and is individually designed according to the customer’s corporate design. The service also scores in terms of sustainability: transport is carried out on the CO2-neutral CHEP quarter pallet Q+ – the most widely used display platform in Germany – according to the circular economy principle.

Logistics & Infrastructure: End-to-end data transparency for display promotions
The Promotion Analytics service is just as innovative: for the first time, branded goods manufacturers receive transparency about all processes along their supply chain thanks to a modern tracking and a web-based analysis dashboard. In addition, the data obtained with the service can be used jointly by trade and industry to optimize advertising campaigns and generate more sales. At its core is a durable and smart tracker, the basis of which was developed by Deutsche Telekom. Integrated into CHEP’s quarter pallet Q+ with a simple flick of the wrist, the device tracks the location and condition of promotional displays from the manufacturer’s distribution center to the central retail warehouse to their placement on the sales floor. The industry has an eye on arrival time, timings, possible damage or loss at all times.
This is made possible by the motion sensor, with which the tracker records position data with an accuracy of up to one meter, should it change. During transport, the tracker not only measures movements, but also vibrations and temperature. If, for example, goods fall or the cold chain is interrupted, the device immediately sounds an alarm. Once in the retail outlet, retailers and manufacturers get a complete picture of a promotional campaign. The success of promotions can be measured more precisely based on the length of time the displays remain on the sales floor.
Innovation driver CHEP: focus on the customer
CHEP has used its position in the supply chain and its innovative strength to develop new, intelligent solutions to sustainably support brand manufacturers and retailers in their logistics and the implementation of their sales promotions.

“The German Innovation Award makes innovations visible that successfully stand out from the crowd. We are proud that we have achieved exactly this with our two new services. These offer our customers a clear added value that helps them to advance in their business. Our entire team is very pleased with the award,” reports Kai Derda, Managing Director of CHEP Deutschland GmbH.
