Further growth in Germany and expansion of the customer experience are of central importance.
Cologne, January 9, 2024 – CHEP, the global expert in pallet pooling and supply chain solutions, has appointed Philipp Schlömer as Commercial Director of CHEP Germany. Since January 2024, he has driven German business development forward in his new position. The aim is to generate further growth in the country through consistently high customer orientation and service quality and expanding customer service.
Philipp Schlömer, New Commercial Director
Philipp Schlömer succeeds Boris Lohmüller, who was appointed Country General Manager, CHEP Benelux. Schlömer looks back on a long career at CHEP. Since joining in 2014, he has worked in various supply chain and commercial functions, including country lead, Switzerland. Before taking up his new role as Commercial Director, as Senior Manager, Supply Chain, Central Europe, he significantly redesigned the business area through more efficient processes.
Schlömer holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in logistics management from the European University of Applied Sciences in Brühl. He also studied business administration and management at California State University, Fullerton. High commercial awareness combined with strategic thinking.
“We are pleased to appoint Philipp Schlömer as the head of our commercial team,” said Kai Derda, Managing Director of CHEP Germany. “In his previous position, he initiated an impressive transformation process. He will use this deep understanding of future-oriented corporate design profitably in his new job.
“Building on our strategic orientation for Germany, he will accelerate our growth through new business opportunities and promote the further development of our employees.”
“In my new position, I am pleased to take the lead in the further development of our experienced commercial team, which is characterized by a high level of service quality,” said Schlömer. “One of my tasks will be to further improve the customer experience on all channels and turn it into a competitive advantage for our company.”
Boris Lohmüller Appointed Country General Manager, CHEP Benelux
Lohmüller, who has a broad background in Retail and Consumer Goods, was promoted to CHEP Benelux in November 2023. Over the past 15 years, he has held various commercial leadership positions within CHEP Germany, most recently as Commercial Director of the successful German sales strategy.
At the time of his appointment, Lohmüller stated that the mission remains the same: to build sustainable relationships with customers and partners within the logistics sector, together with the help of local teams. His efforts will center around creating a superior customer experience while also focusing on sustainability so that CHEP Benelux can continue to stand out from the competition and retain its strong market leadership position within the Benelux region.
He said he would be putting greater focus on three central company objectives than ever before: Launching innovative projects – Continuing to emphasize the importance of a circular economy – Attracting young talent to the logistics sector
“I am very much looking forward to working with the talented Benelux team in further consolidating our market position while also focusing on delivering a more superior experience for our customers,” he said in November. “As the backbone of the supply chain, together with our sustainable business model, we want to convince more companies to work with us. We believe that we can offer added value for our customers, both in terms of sustainability and efficiency within the supply chain.”
Lohmüller sets out his third objective as follows: “We also wish to present CHEP to young talent as a great employer, one that lives and breathes sustainability, from the production process to the workplace itself.”
CHEP owns around 353 million pallets, boxes and containers distributed across a network of over 750 service centers. As part of the Brambles Group, CHEP operates in 60 countries, with the largest offices in North America and Western Europe.
