The award, presented in the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) category, acknowledges PECO’s comprehensive efforts to reduce environmental impact, advance circular supply chains, and promote sustainable practices throughout its operations in Canada.
Founded in 1958, the CITT is one of Canada’s most respected logistics associations, offering professional development and certification programs for supply chain practitioners. Its new sustainability award highlights companies making significant strides in environmental performance and long-term supply chain responsibility.
“PECO Pallet has made sustainability an integral part of their business practices and has demonstrated creativity, capability and leadership in environmental stewardship and sustainable development,” said Pina Melchionna, President & CEO of CITT. “They are a clear example of a company dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint and making consequential, impactful decisions to reach that goal.”
“Environmental sustainability is not just a program at PECO Pallet, it is the foundation of everything we do,” added Lisa Vegso, PECO’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Our share and reuse model supports a circular supply chain relied upon by thousands of shippers, and which emphasizes sophisticated repair and reuse practices to extend pallet life as well as recycling and repurposing of waste materials into other uses, minimizing landfill impact.”
PECO’s signature red block pallets are a familiar platform across North American supply chains, supporting shipments in trucks, intermodal containers, and other freight environments. The company’s pooling service supports a broad array of customers in retail, consumer goods, grocery, agriculture, and regional distribution.
Operating a network of more than 90 pallet depots and managing a fleet of approximately 24 million pallets, PECO Pallet delivers operational efficiency while reducing the environmental footprint associated with one-way pallet systems.
Through its ongoing investments in reuse, repair, and recovery, PECO has demonstrated how pooling models can align with both commercial and sustainability objectives—helping customers reduce waste and improve supply chain performance. For example, global nonprofits are also advancing climate action through innovative environmental missions and impactful grassroots programs around the world.
