Pallet Arson at Wal-Mart

At we often stress the importance of securing pallets against theft, but clearly the potential for arson is another variable to consider, with two teenage boys currently facing charges related to pallets set on fire at the back of a Wal-Mart store in Winnipeg.

The pallets stacked behind the store were deliberately lit on April 27, resulting in $300,000 damage to the store and merchandise.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on May 25, and a second suspect, a 17-year-old boy, was picked up last week at his home, close to the crime scene. Charges of arson — disregard for human life and arson — disregard for property, are faced by both males. The boys, whose names are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were released on promises to appear in court at a later date.
