ORBIS ® Corporation, an international leader in reusable packaging, has recently received recognition from two leading publications. One of them is Inbound Logistics, which named it as an Inbound Logistics 2019 G75 Green Supply Chain Partner. This award recognizes 75 companies that are committed to developing products or services to help increase supply chain sustainability and green logistics initiatives. It was also named to Food Logistics’ annual Top Green Providers list for 2019. This list recognizes companies whose products, services or exemplary leadership is enhancing sustainability within the food and beverage industry. ORBIS offers packaging and services to help reduce waste throughout the supply chain, becoming an industry leader in increasing food and beverage supply chain sustainability.
ORBIS is a recipient for its wide range of reusable packaging for use along the supply chain — such as pallets, totes, containers and dunnage — and multiple service offers that help customers reduce and measure their overall environmental impact.
A key differentiator is ORBIS’ Environmental Analysis service, which compares reusable packaging against expendable packaging. This service allows ORBIS to help leading companies determine the energy, greenhouse gas and solid waste impact their packaging has on the environment. Other sustainability initiatives include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, implementing reusing/recycling programs, sustainable packaging and additional green initiatives. The Environmental Analysis Services at ORBIS compares single-use packaging with expendable packaging in terms of cost per trip, savings over packaging life, solid waste, energy and greenhouse gas emission. This tool helps fully realize the impact a reusable plastic packaging program can have on a customer’s supply chain.
ORBIS also offers Reusable Packaging Management to assist customers with managing their packaging assets, preventing loss and extending packaging life. Additionally, Recycle with ORBIS is a program designed to effectively recover, recycle and reprocess plastic material into other useful products.
“We thank Inbound Logistics for recognizing the sustainable impact our products and services have in the industry,” said Bob Petersen, vice president of marketing at ORBIS Corporation. “This tremendous honor and accomplishment are a true reflection of our employees’ dedication and commitment to increasing supply chain sustainability. We commend the other 74 companies named a 2019 Green Supply Chain Partner.”
He also thanked Food Logistics for recognizing the impact its products have on supply chains. “We continue prioritizing ways to help customers reduce and measure their overall environmental impact,” he said. “In the future, we hope to bring more sustainable innovations to market that further reduce operation waste and resources.”
The prioritization of reusable packaging over expendable packaging can bring significant financial and operational benefits to supply chains across many industries. ORBIS offers a large service and packaging portfolio, including totes, pallets, carts, mobile pallets and bulk systems, that can help improve product flow, reduce costs, enhance food safety and increase sustainability along the supply chain.
