LPR-La Palette Rouge- and Euro Pool System (both divisions of the Euro Pool Group) have reconfirmed their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility at the 2018 Retail Summit Congress held in Warsaw last month and announced their active involvement in the creation of a new environmental award.
The pallet pooling expert LPR-La Palette Rouge and Euro Pool System, the leading provider of European logistics services for reusable packaging, are accelerating their CSR policies. The two companies are increasing their initiatives for sustainable development and demonstrated this once again at the Retail Summit Congress in Warsaw, which brought together the key players in the Polish market over the course of two days in both the retail and consumer goods industries.
New Sustainability Award Announced
The two divisions of the Euro Pool Group announced the creation of a new award for 2019, in partnership with PwC, a world leader in consulting, auditing and accounting and BBM the Organizer of Retail Summit. Called the Sustainability Award 2019, it will complement the current list of five existing awards for the best retailers in Poland in its respective categories.
The Sustainability Award will be given to the Retailer that have implemented the most sustainable and pro-environmental solutions in Poland during the year of 2018.
The environmental sustainability and the circular economy are not just trending topics as Tiago Costa, Country Manager of LPR Poland, points out, but an economic reality. “The circular economy and the commitment to a sustainable solution is a real strategy for effective cooperation between retailers, FMCG producers, logistic operators and the entire supply chain,” he said.
Circular Economy an Economic Reality
“It’s extremely important to limit the impact on the environment: waste generation, excessive consumption of raw materials, greenhouse gas emissions and other transport-related nuisances (pollution, road traffic, noise, etc.). Therefore, we are delighted to be a partner of the Sustainability Award, as this is the first time that in Poland, that an award will be given to a retailer for the work developed to contributing for a better world. Certainly, this initiative will also contribute to building awareness about the importance of more sustainable supply chain in Poland.”
Aware of these issues, the Euro Pool Group has developed services involving optimised multimodal transport systems, partnerships with local suppliers, shortened transport loops, empty miles reduction and the development of service centers close to the distribution centers, etc.
“We have developed a product and system that is future proof,” confims Gerjo Scheringa, C.E.O of Euro Pool Group. “Both divisions, LPR and EPS, are based on a ‘circular economy’ approach. Sustainability is our core business. Therefore, we believe that an increasing number of stakeholders will join our pooling formula, reducing the CO2 emission, preventing food waste and creating a better world for the next generation. Our goals are set and we are ready for the future.”
