UK housebuilder Keepmoat has partnered with The Pallet LOOP to expand the use of reusable pallets across its construction sites, becoming the latest major builder to support the pallet recovery initiative as the construction sector looks to reduce waste and improve material circularity.

The partnership will see Keepmoat adopt The Pallet LOOP’s reusable green pallets across its 79 active construction sites. The program is designed to keep pallets in circulation longer through collection, inspection, repair and reuse, reducing the number of timber pallets sent to disposal.
The UK construction industry uses an estimated 20 million pallets annually, many of which are still treated as single-use assets. The Pallet LOOP aims to change that model by encouraging manufacturers and suppliers to ship products on durable green pallets that are returned for reuse. To encourage recovery, the company pays construction sites between £2 and £4 for each returned pallet, depending on its condition.
Keepmoat said the initiative supports its broader sustainability strategy by reducing waste, lowering disposal costs and improving site efficiency.
“At Keepmoat, reducing waste across our sites is an important part of our sustainability strategy, and pallet reuse is a practical way we can make a real difference,” said John Bowden, Sustainability Director at Keepmoat.
“By working with The Pallet LOOP, we can help keep valuable timber in use for longer, reduce the number of pallets going into skips and support a more circular approach across our supply chain.,” he continued. “It is an initiative that delivers clear environmental benefits while also helping to improve site efficiency and reduce disposal costs.”
Ian Broad, Sales Director at The Pallet LOOP, welcomed the company’s participation. “It’s fantastic to have Keepmoat on board and actively supporting pallet reuse across its sites,” he said.
“Construction pallets have too often been seen as single-use items, but through The Pallet LOOP, we’re helping businesses keep valuable timber in use for longer, reduce site waste and unlock PayBack for every green LOOP pallet returned.
“Keepmoat’s commitment is a great example of how housebuilders can work with their supply chains to drive positive change and support a more circular approach to construction.”
Keepmoat is one of the UK’s largest partnership homebuilders, working with local authorities, Homes England, registered housing providers and private landowners to develop residential communities.
The Pallet LOOP continues to expand its network of participating manufacturers and suppliers. Companies already using the reusable pallet system include British Gypsum, Isover, Superglass, Wienerberger, CEMEX and Gyproc as the program works to increase pallet reuse throughout the UK construction supply chain.
