Join Me at the Western Pallet Association Announces 2013 Annual Meeting

November 25, 2012 By Rick LeBlanc Leave a Comment

Okay, it’s official. I’ve purchased my plane ticket to Palm Springs. The Western Pallet Association has announced its speakers for the upcoming WPA Annual Meeting, this coming January in nearby Rancho Mirage, California, and if you would like a quick reset on the state of the wood pallet business for the western half of North America, there is no better place to be. The meeting theme is Tomorrow…Today.

The gathering officially starts Friday January 18 with a Board of Directors meeting, but gets rolling for attendees on Saturday with an optional round of golf and then the Welcome Reception at 5 pm. The speaker program runs Sunday and Monday mornings, with the annual golf tournament on Monday afternoon. Evening receptions and dinners run both Sunday and Monday.

Speakers include:

Karen Wanamaker, NWPCA. After the Election: What Does It Mean to Our Industry

Jeff McBee, Industrial Reporting. Making Cents of the New Economy

John Swenby, Paltech. 9BLOC – The Future of the Whitewood Pallet

Troy Casper, KIWI Transport. Transportation, A Different Look

Tom Searles, American Lumber Standards Committee. US WPM Program – Ten Years and Still Growing

Clary Redd, Stinson, Morrison, Hecker LLP. Passing the Torch Without Dousing the Flame: Estate Planning for Closely Held Business Owners

Chuck Ray, Pennsylvania State University. Global Reset, 2013

Also included is a panel discussion titled What Tomorrow Looks Like From Today’s Perspective, including Kelly Bennion, Kathleen Dietrich, Chuck Ray, Tom Searles, Frank Shean, Tom Thayer and Greg Vipond.
