IFCO, the global leader in Reusable Plastic Containers (RPCs), has announced the appointment of Fred Heptinstall to Senior Vice President, Global Business Development and Dan Walsh to succeed him as President of the North American business. Fred will be responsible for evaluating opportunities for geographic expansion of IFCO into undeveloped global markets, new product applications and services and acquisition opportunities. He will participate in IFCO’s strategic global business development and will represent IFCO in relevant industry organizations.
Dan comes to IFCO from within the Brambles family of companies, where he began in 1998. During his 15 years with the group, Dan has held a variety of leadership positions in General Management, Strategy, Sales and Customer Service throughout CHEP’s global product divisions and regions, including the RPCs business in the UK & Ireland. In his most recent role as Vice President, Sales & Customer Collaboration for CHEP USA, Dan was responsible for all commercial activity in the United States and instituted a structured collaboration program that strengthened relationships with key strategic customers.
“I look forward to leading IFCO’s customer- and growth-focused efforts in the United States and Canada,” says Dan. “It is a very exciting time for us at IFCO, and I’m delighted to be at the helm of such an innovative, customer-focused organization.”
Fred has been with IFCO since 2004 and has led the growth of IFCO’s RPC business to become the recognized leader for fresh produce in North America. During his tenure, IFCO achieved a leading position in the RPC sector and converted a number of major North American retailers to the use of RPCs.
Wolfgang Orgeldinger, CEO IFCO SYSTEMS said: “I am extremely pleased to announce these two new appointments. IFCO will be sure to continue its success under the proven leadership provided by Dan and Fred.”
As the market leader with more than 180 million RPCs in circulation worldwide, IFCO is the leading provider of reusable containers to the fresh food sector. IFCO handles all RPC logistics, from distributions to cleaning to re-entry into the supply chain. After retail use, IFCO RPCs are folded, collected and shipped back to one of IFCO’s service facilities, where they are sanitized and prepared for re-use.
