Gary McGann, Group Chief Executive Officer, Smurfit Kappa has been named Chairman of The Confederation of European Paper Industries (‘CEPI’).
CEPI is a Brussels-based non-profit organization representing the European pulp and paper industry. Mr McGann will succeed Jussi Pessonen, the Chief Executive Officer of UPM.
The Chairman is charged with representing the European pulp and paper industry at an EU and international level during a two-year term. Mr McGann has served on the CEPI Board since 2010.
CEPI, with its 18 member countries (including 17 European Union members plus Norway) represents the interests of approximately 520 pulp, paper and board producing companies across Europe, ranging from small and medium sized companies to multi-nationals, and 950 paper mills, collectively representing about 23 percent of world output.
