“EPAL in oval” has firmly established itself as a global brand for pallets in only three years.
In 2016, the European Pallet Association achieved another record result of 105.5 million EPAL pallets in total (production and repair): up 4.35% in comparison to the previous year. Production figures rose by 8.93% to 80.5 million EPAL pallets, while repairs rose by 1 million to 25 million repaired EPAL pallets.
“It is truly impressive that we could top 2015, our best year ever, and we are proud of all our EPAL licensees and the work of the EPAL National Committees, without whom this superb result would not have been possible,” commented Martin Leibrandt, CEO of EPAL.
In the last three years since the brand name “EPAL in oval” has been branded on all four blocks, the continuing upward trend of the EPAL pallet is a unique success story, based on quality, safety, and sustainability.
The quality and safety of EPAL Euro pallets are founded on three pillars: international uniform standardization, regular quality assurance of production and repair operations by independent and unannounced inspections, and the legal prosecution of inferior, counterfeit pallets.
The “EPAL in oval” brand is internationally protected. Infringements of the “EPAL in oval” brand due to counterfeiting activities are pursued by EPAL in the criminal and civil courts. EPAL cooperates with customs authorities, police and lawyers in various countries, to prevent the import of counterfeit pallets at source. For this purpose, the EPAL Academy trains customs officers operating at the EU’s external borders. A result of this intensive work by EPAL is that only low numbers of counterfeit EPAL Euro pallets reach the market and have to be disposed of. The quality of the EPAL Euro pallets in the EPAL Euro pallet pool is thus as high as ever.
The European Pallet Association e.V. (EPAL) ensures a smooth flow of goods in the logistics world with over 450 million EPAL Euro pallets and 20 million box pallets in the world’s biggest open exchange pool. Founded in 1991 as the umbrella association of licensed producers and repairers of EPAL load carriers, EPAL is globally responsible for their consistent quality. EPAL pallets are produced from sustainably grown, CO2-neutral wood. They can be repaired and recycled, and reduce transport distances thanks to their high level of availability. As a registered association, EPAL does not pursue any commercial interests and makes all its decisions in the interests of its industry, trade and logistics partners. EPAL is represented in more than thirty countries by fifteen National Committees which have committed themselves to implementing the EPAL objectives.
