The EPAL Pallet App is now live, offering a web-based tool to improve pallet tracking, inventory visibility, and sustainability across the open EPAL pallet pool.

Simplifying Pallet Management from Warehouse to Head Office
The European Pallet Association (EPAL) officially launched its new EPAL Pallet App on March 20, 2025. Designed to digitize and simplify pallet logistics, the app works with both QR-coded and non-QR EPAL pallets, giving users tools to track shipments, manage inventory, and reduce reliance on manual processes.
The platform combines two core components: a mobile web app for warehouse use and a web-based dashboard for office logistics teams. This dual structure allows companies to manage pallet flows in real time while maintaining a clear overview of stock levels and assignments across locations.
“The lack of transparency and traceability of pallet movements is a frequent problem in goods and pallet logistics,” said Jarek Maciążek, President of EPAL. “Entering information manually is inefficient and can lead to the loss of pallets and goods. The EPAL Pallet App is the quick way for companies to start digitalizing their logistics processes, particularly when combined with the EPAL Euro pallet QR.”
Since its launch in January 2024, more than two million EPAL Euro pallets with QR codes have entered circulation, a figure EPAL sees as strong validation of the market’s readiness for digitization.

Bringing Transparency and Efficiency to Load Carrier Logistics
The mobile web app makes it easy for warehouse staff to register incoming pallets, book empty pallet returns, and initiate tracking assignments. The dashboard, used by logistics managers, provides a full view of EPAL pallet inventories, movement histories, and location-specific data. The system also supports automated alerts when pallet stocks fall below minimum thresholds, aiding proactive inventory planning.
“Load carrier management is frequently still a manual, paper-based process in many companies,” said Michael Brandt, Head of Logistics and Innovation at EPAL. “This is inefficient, and transferring hand-written pallet and sorting vouchers into the IT system is prone to error and time-consuming. The EPAL Pallet App offers quick and uncomplicated digitalization of these processes. At the same time, it improves inventory management of EPAL pallets at companies’ locations as well as collaboration with customers and suppliers.”
Users can register quickly and begin using the app by entering their company locations and assigning user access. Additional functionality includes optional pallet quality grading to further improve internal tracking and reduce discrepancies. EPAL emphasized that the app focuses on essential logistics processes to ensure ease of use and rapid onboarding.

EPAL Pallet App: Supporting Sustainability and System Integration
The new app supports EPAL’s broader goals around sustainability and resource reuse. By enabling more efficient pallet pooling, reuse, and tracking, it promotes the circular economy principles embedded in EPAL’s open exchange system.
“The EPAL Pallet App is not a replacement for EPAL pallet users’ existing IT systems but is intended to supplement them through the pallet management and pallet and goods tracking functions,” said EPAL CEO Bernd Dörre. “This will improve existing processes and IT solutions and make the use and exchange of EPAL pallets more effective.”
EPAL plans ongoing development of the app, including expanded integration with user IT systems and the ability to capture additional data points about pallets and goods. The organization is encouraging users to share feedback that can shape future updates.
By building on the foundation laid by the Euro pallet QR initiative, the EPAL Pallet App represents the next step in modernizing the world’s largest open pallet pool. With more than 675 million EPAL Euro pallets and 20 million box pallets in circulation, the new tool supports a shift toward more transparent, efficient, and sustainable logistics operations.
