Einride and Svenska Retursystem – a leading Swedish logistics company – will explore how digitalization and automation of the flow of goods can drive change towards a more effective and sustainable transport system. One goal is to test Einride’s self-driving, electric trucks at Svenska Retursystem’s logistics center in Västerås, Sweden.
“SRS has pledged fossil-free transports by 2025 but getting there will be difficult and involve several different solutions. The partnership with Einride is important, not just to reduce our own emissions, but to push the whole industry towards sustainable transport,” says Anna Elgh, CEO, Svenska Retursystem.
The Swedish startup Einride has developed a unique transportation solution, based on autonomous trucks, able to replace diesel trucks in a high percentage of existing freight flows. Einride’s “T-pod” has no driver’s cab, is all-electric, and has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90 percent.
As part of the collaboration, Einride’s solution and platform will be deployed to explore how digitalization and automation of the flow of goods can lead to more effective and sustainable transport. A pilot project will also be initiated with the goal of introducing Einride’s self-driving, electric trucks at Svenska Retursystem’s logistics center in Västerås.
“Climate change is our greatest challenge, and transport represents 25 percent of total CO2 emissions globally. Innovative solutions are needed to replace the old, and Einride’s solution is proof a transition to a sustainable, safe and efficient transport system is possible. All it takes is the will to change,” says Robert Falck, CEO, Einride.
Apart from the pilot, the partnership between Einride and SRS will involve an extensive exchange of knowledge and experience related to digitization and logistics.
Einride is a Swedish tech-company founded in 2016 by Robert Falck, Filip Lilja, and Linnéa Kornehed. Einride develops intelligent transportation solutions – sustainable, cost-effective and safe – and has gained global recognition for the T-pod, the first truck specifically designed for electric propulsion and autonomous driving.
