- What does it take to be a top employer? A comprehensive benefits package, hybrid working model and broad-based support turn the needle for CHEP Germany.
- For the seventh consecutive year, CHEP has been recognized in both Germany and Europe.
Cologne, January 22, 2024 – CHEP, a global leader in supply chain solutions, has been named a top employer in Germany for 2024 by the Top Employers Institute (TEI), a global certification institute for outstanding employee conditions. This is the seventh consecutive year that CHEP has been recognized in both Germany and Europe. Besides Germany, several other countries have received individual accreditation, including Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, Great Britain and the Czech Republic.
Certification as Global Top Employer 2024 proves first-class employee orientation worldwide
This year, CHEP, as part of the Brambles Group, was one of only 17 organizations to receive the Global Top Employer certificate. The certificate is only awarded to companies that demonstrate outstanding human resources policies and practices worldwide.
“We are thrilled that our focus on people and development is consistently recognized as the best in our market,” reported Guido Lehnen, Director Human Resources / HR Business Partner for the Central & Eastern Europe region. “Our hybrid working model, diverse wellbeing and mental health measures and a comprehensive benefits package are the foundation of our committed, motivated and loyal employee base.”
The Top Employers Institute program certifies participating organizations based on the results of its HR Best Practices survey, which covers six areas with 20 topics. Categories in which CHEP stood out compared to the benchmark included business strategy, leadership, listening to employees, well-being, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and sustainability.
In 2023, CHEP exceeded its 2025 goal of 40% women on the board and achieved 36.3% women in leadership positions worldwide. The company continued to improve its safety performance: with a 31% decrease in injury rates compared to fiscal year 2020, CHEP achieved its best result to date. To support the diversity of its workforce even more, the company has expanded its range of support programs and now offers various groups for employees of any background, disability or gender and for the socioeconomically disadvantaged.
David Plink, CEO of the Top Employers Institute, stated: “Extraordinary times bring out the best in people and organizations. And that’s what we saw in our Top Employers certification program this year: exceptional performance from the certified Top Employers 2024. These employers always have demonstrated that they care about the development and well-being of their employees. In this way, together they enrich the world of work. We are proud to announce and celebrate this year’s group of leading people-focused employers: the Top Employers 2024. “
CHEP does more than any other company in the world to move more goods to more people in more places. Its pallets, boxes and containers form the invisible backbone of the global supply chain. The world’s largest brands trust CHEP to transport their products more efficiently, sustainably and safely. CHEP has created one of the world’s most sustainable logistics companies through the model of sharing and reusing its load carriers known as “pooling”, and particularly serves the fast-moving consumer goods (e.g. dry goods, grocery, health and personal care), fresh produce and beverage industries retail and general manufacturing industries.
The company employs approximately 11,500 people and owns around 353 million pallets, boxes, and containers distributed across a network of over 750 service centers. As part of the Brambles Group, CHEP operates in 60 countries, with the largest offices in North America and Western Europe.
