CHEP and Westland Horticulture Reach £3 Million Pallet Pooling Agreement

May 28, 2011 By Rick LeBlanc Leave a Comment

CHEP, the global leader in pallet and container pooling services, has signed a two-year contract with Westland Horticulture, one of the leading and fastest-growing national horticultural companies in the UK and Ireland. The agreement is worth an estimated £3 million over the two years and ties Westland’s existing business with CHEP into a long-term contract for the first time.

Westland Horticulture Commercial Director, Patrick McLaughlin said: “The size and scale of CHEP’s operation is absolutely fundamental to this deal, along with its sophisticated network of 18 service centres located throughout the UK and Ireland.

“At Westland, it’s imperative that we are able to supply our customers with reliability and consistency Over time, we have come to recognise that availability is never an issue with CHEP and for this reason we look forward to strengthening our relationship even further.”
Under the new contract, Westland will continue to use CHEP pallets to transport its range of garden products into major DIY retailers, independent garden centres and lifestyle stores throughout the UK and Ireland. Westland has also launched distribution of its innovative new bird-care product range, Peckish, on CHEP pallets.

CHEP Country General Manager for UK & Ireland, Mike Pooley, said: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Westland Horticulture. For a business so reliant on seasonality to recognise the value of the CHEP network and service in this way by committing to this two-year deal is very satisfying. I’m really looking forward to working with the Westland team to see how we can grow and nurture our relationship even further.”
