SYDNEY – CHEP Australia has been recognized for its outstanding zero waste to landfill target achievement, and its contribution to sustainable supply chain solutions, in the 2020 Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) Awards held on the 18th November.
This is the third consecutive year that CHEP Australia has won the ‘Logistics and Warehousing’ category award and the second time that they have won the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award for Sustainable Packaging Outcomes’.
The Logistics and Warehousing Award is one of 12 Industry Sector Awards. This category celebrates the highest performing APCO Member in each major industry sector and is assessed based on Members’ Annual Reporting scores and their performance against the Packaging Sustainability Framework criteria.
Brooke Donnelly, APCO CEO, commented, “Industry Sector Awards are always extremely hard-fought, with so many APCO Members delivering outstanding sustainability outcomes throughout the year.
“The APCO Awards celebrate Australia’s top achievers in the field of packaging sustainability. Every business shortlisted displayed a dedication to innovative packaging design, a deep commitment to supply chain collaboration and demonstrated clear leadership among their peers and competitors.
“The winners in these sectors really are the cream of the crop in their industry, consistently demonstrating best practice and acting as a shining example for others to follow as we seek to build a circular economy for packaging in Australia.
“Congratulations to CHEP Australia for winning the Industry Sector Award in Logistics and Warehousing and setting an example across the industry as we work towards achieving the 2025 National Packaging Targets.”
CHEP Australia’s ‘share and reuse model’ was just one factor that determined its win of the APCO 2020 Logistics and Warehousing Industry Sector Award.
Having already achieved a product range that uses only recycled or renewable materials, CHEP has extended its sustainability credentials by working in partnership with customers to optimize network and transport efficiencies, reducing total service-associated carbon emissions.
Executive General Manager CHEP Australia, Lis Mannes said, “I am delighted and honored to accept these prestigious APCO awards on behalf of all my CHEP Australia colleagues.
“CHEP Australia is part of one of the world’s most sustainable logistics businesses. Our circular business model facilitates the ‘share and reuse’ of Australia’s largest pool of reusable pallets and containers. Our end to end supply chain solutions can deliver operational, financial and environmental efficiencies not otherwise available through one-way, single-use alternatives.
“We are pioneering a truly regenerative supply chain by not only restoring and replenishing the resources we require but committing to creating more positive impacts beyond our business for the benefit of future generations.
“I would like to thank APCO for the leadership role that they play and all our customers, who are as passionate as ourselves about the value of circularity. Together, we can deliver the supply chains Australia and the world needs for the future.”
