Brambles announces appointment of Marisa Sánchez as Global Supply Chain Decarbonisation Director

October 13, 2021 By Rick LeBlanc

Marisa Sánchez Sydney, Australia, 13 October 2021 – Brambles, the global supply chain solutions company operating in 60 countries through the CHEP brand, is pleased to announce the appointment of Marisa Sánchez to the new role of Global Supply Chain Decarbonisation Director with effect from 8 September 2021.

The newly created position will drive the necessary transformation to ensure Brambles will achieve its Paris-aligned emissions reduction targets and contribute towards its Regenerative Supply Chain ambitions. Moreover, this role will contribute to leverage the increasing number of business opportunities arising from the low carbon transition and make Brambles’ business even more sustainable.

Mrs. Sánchez is a highly experienced sustainability leader, with extensive climate risk and carbon experience across a wide range of sectors, gained through her consulting, industry and not-for-profit expertise. Mrs. Sánchez has held positions with global organizations such as the world’s largest provider of commercial explosives and blasting systems, Orica, where she was Principal Advisor for Climate Change and Deloitte in Australia and Spain.

She has also contributed to not-for-profit organizations such as New York-based Climate Neutral Standards and Action Against Hunger. Mrs. Sánchez holds a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and Management from EOI Business School (Escuela de Organización Industrial) in Madrid, where she is currently a lecturer in climate risk and adaptation.

“The time has come for companies to make a real step change to mitigate climate change and build a collective response to one of the biggest challenges of our time: the decarbonization of the global economy”, said Juan José Freijo, Brambles Global Head of Sustainability. “Marisa brings a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that this represents for businesses like ours. I’m sure her passion and her alignment with our ambitious regenerative mission will help enhance the sustainable business model that will succeed in the future.”

Working closely with both the Supply Chain and Sustainability leadership teams and with the regional responsible areas, Mrs. Sánchez will be accountable for developing and implementing Brambles’ carbon reduction strategy globally. Specifically, this position will work to successfully incorporate the company’s 2025 and 2030 ‘Climate Positive’ objectives into its supply chain operations and determine the actions required to reach its carbon reduction commitments, including initiatives that leverage Brambles’ zero-carbon business model for customers.
