BOXT in refillable packaging offers 50% reduction in carbon footprint versus single bottles.
AUSTIN, TX – In time for Earth Day 2023, BOXT, the female-founded, direct-to-consumer winery known as America’s house wine, has taken another step towards sustainability by shipping its award-winning, premium wine in refillable packaging instead of single-use containers. BOXT’s mission has always been to be America’s house wine while reducing carbon footprint by 50% compared to a single bottle of wine. Each eco-friendly BOXT, made in Napa and delivered directly to customer doorsteps, is equivalent to four bottles of wine and can stay fresh for up to 6 weeks once tapped.
BOXT’s initial goal was to contribute to the fight against climate change and promote sustainability in the wine industry. The BOXT was created to be reused, composted, and refilled, thereby decreasing single-use waste and carbon footprint. The first wine shipment contains a distinctive, reusable BOXT, with every subsequent delivery arriving in refillable wine packaged in an eco-friendly tote. BOXT has taken a step further to reduce its carbon footprint by planting a tree for each BOXT produced.
BOXT, a two-year-old wine start-up, has received 33 awards, and its recent achievement of Double Gold in the prestigious San Francisco International Wine Competition (SFIWC) has led to the introduction of refillable packaging. San Francisco is a globally recognized competition with over 30 judges who are wine industry professionals assessing around 3,000 wines worldwide, with approximately 65% of the wines originating from North America. BOXT’s Bordeaux blend, Profile #5, won Double Gold, signifying that every judge unanimously chose it as their top pick. In addition, all BOXT profiles won gold in the competition.
“We’re thrilled our wines have been awarded 33 medals now, especially the unanimous choice of our Profile #5 in San Francisco. It proves we are delivering fine wine on tap,” said Sarah Puil, Founder and CEO of BOXT. “I’m most proud of how we’ve set ourselves apart in the wine industry delivering premium wine nationwide in the most eco-friendly packaging. We’re making small decisions that continue to add up for a big impact. Our sleek, modern BOXT is 100% compostable. Now by shipping out refillables, we’re making another big step in reducing our carbon footprint and reducing single-use waste.”
BOXT, a licensed and bonded winery, ships to all available states in the US and is dedicated to providing the BOXT tasting experience to everyone in the country, both in person and virtually. BOXT has introduced a wholesale program as part of its mission to become America’s house wine, making it the house wine of numerous bars, restaurants, and salons, to raise awareness in new markets.
