Delft/Apeldoorn 9 March -Sustainability is key in the modern craft of Bakkerij Fuite. Bakkerij Fuite is a leading industrial baker, which has already digitized several business processes. TrackOnline, the digital platform of Bexter, contributes to the next step in digitalization and sustainability.
Insights into the loss of reusable packaging by bakers
Every year, industrial bakers have to deal with a considerable number of unexplained packaging losses. It is about time to put an end to this, since the bread crate itself has more value than its contents, according to Bernie Schlepers, supply chain manager at Bakkerij Fuite. Not only Bakkerij Fuite but also other industrial bakers experience packaging problems. According to Schlepers, insight into the packaging flow is the solution to packaging losses and prevents additional costs. “TrackOnline helps us with that. TrackOnline serves as a basis for a correct packaging registration (accurate pallet control). This enables better planning of bread crates and we reduce ad hoc crate orders,” said Schlepers.
An easier way of monitoring reusable packaging
Bakery Fuite used another software package but made the switch to TrackOnline. The previous way of working was more labor-intensive. Now Bakkerij Fuite can use the connection to automatically import orders from the ERP system AFAS. This connection makes it easier to work because the value of the bread crates and dollies and the from and to locations are read in automatically, said Schlepers.
A different way of working can cause reluctance within organizations’, noted Toon de Jong, commercial director of Bexter.
“A number of our customers experience reluctance in advance, because working with a new platform, such as TrackOnline, requires a different way of working,” he said. “Once they see how easy TrackOnline works and experience positive results, they are convinced.”
Reusable packaging management: an effortless interaction with supplier and customer
The increase in sales of supermarkets in the past year makes an insight into the available packaging even more important. As a regular supplier of (online) retailers, Bakkerij Fuite has more control over its packaging flow with TrackOnline: “TrackOnline, which also functions as a communication platform, allows us to switch effortlessly with our suppliers and customers,” said Schlepers.
“TrackOnline is a reliable package with endless possibilities,” concluded Klaas Fuite, director of Bakkerij Fuite. “It brings us one step closer to making our bakeries more sustainable.”
