In 2011, the European Number 2 pallet-pooling specialist achieved turnover in excess of 117 million Euros, a 6.7% increase compared to the previous financial year.
This was the 19th consecutive year of growth for LPR – La Palette Rouge. The pallet-pooling specialist achieved a consolidated turnover of more than €117 million in 2011 (compared to €109.63 million in 2010), an increase of 6.7%. There was also a considerable increase in volume (+7.9%) with more than 45 million pallet movements over the course of the year.
LPR strengthened its position in its traditional markets. In France, turnover increased by 3.8% to €50.3 million, with volume growing by 5.1% (18 million pallet movements). This increase was partly linked to volume growth in the beverages sector, which had been falling for the previous three years as a result of the economic crisis and unfavourable weather. In particular, LPR renewed and extended its partnership with the production plants of Les Mousquetaires, a major distributor, and the well-known brewer, Heineken. Benelux and Spain each saw double-digit growth for both turnover and volume.
LPR continued to develop its business in Europe, with increased recognition by distributors in two new markets, Germany and Italy. Pallet movements there were up by 43.6% and 15.7% respectively.
In 2011, the company also pursued its efforts in favour of sustainable development. New transport partnerships were signed with major customers in the French beverages market: loading practices were improved with the Saint-Amand Group, reducing empty vehicle-kilometres and CO2 emissions, while Kronenbourg now receives its LPR pallets by rail at its Obernai site on the German border.
Outlook for 2012
Six months after LPR was acquired by Euro Pool System, the outlook is bright. The economic recovery has allowed both companies to extend their product ranges. New opportunities are opening up for collaboration with European distribution networks and with producers of fruit and vegetables and other ultra-fresh produce. Xavier Goube, General Manager LPR France, comments: “The recovery has boosted confidence among our customers and distributors in the markets they serve. This encourages us to look forward to further commercial development, better even than for 2011, despite flat growth on the FMCG market in Europe.”
