- With 10% of pallets going missing annually, worldwide, the company recognizes the value of tracking.
AJ Networks, a major player in South Korea’s closed-loop rental system market, has utilized Sigfox 0G technology to connect 10,000 plastic pallets on AMO-SNet’s 0G Network, marking a groundbreaking asset tracking system in the country’s pallet pooling business. With approximately 10% of pallets going missing annually worldwide, AJ Network recognized the need for a solution to track and manage their assets effectively.
As a KOSPI-listed company offering integrated pallet and logistics management services to prominent FMCG, pharmaceutical, electronics, chemical, petrochemical, and machinery manufacturers in South Korea, AJ Networks owns 17 million plastic pallets and produces 1 million new ones each year. To mitigate pallet loss and optimize asset management in warehouses, the company partnered with AMO-Snet in 2022 to develop an IoT-based asset tracking system for its pallet pooling business.
Sung-Woo Ko, Manager of AJ Networks, expressed the company’s commitment to integrating the new Asset Tracking System, stating that the goal is to enhance the company’s pallet rental system and improve overall logistics service competitiveness. By leveraging data insights, the system will enable efficient inventory management, storage and delivery status tracking, and streamlined return and collection requests, ensuring customers receive the right pallets in the right quantities at the right time.
AJ Networks asset tracker does not require separate on-site readers
The asset tracker deployed by AJ Networks, developed by ALPS, utilizes Sigfox Atlas Wi-Fi® service, combining low-power wide area (LPWA) communication technology with position information from Wi-Fi® access points. Unlike traditional asset trackers reliant on 3G and GPS, which are unsuitable for tracking indoor assets like pallets, the ALPS tracker leverages Sigfox 0G technology and Wi-Fi® for real-time location tracking and movement route monitoring without the need for separate on-site readers.
Seung-Hwan Song, Sales Director of AMO-SNet, expressed satisfaction in supporting AJ Network’s efforts to transform the pallet pooling industry in South Korea. AMO-SNet, as a leading telecommunication business operator, provides nationwide coverage of the Sigfox 0G Network, ensuring stability and high coverage of approximately 91% of the population, facilitating the smooth implementation of AJ Networks’ Pallet Tracking business.
The ALPS asset tracker, powered by Sigfox 0G technology, offers a low-cost and energy-efficient solution applicable in over 70 countries. As e-commerce continues to expand globally, efficient transportation becomes increasingly crucial. ALPS Alpine’s solution helps AJ Networks strike a balance between meeting fluctuating demand and optimizing storage costs, ultimately boosting profitability and business efficiency.
Loic Barancourt, Chief Commercial Officer of UnaBiz Group, emphasized the significance of the pallet rental market in the logistics industry and the importance of making the right choice to enhance savings and efficiency. UnaBiz is committed to offering ultra-low-cost solutions that aid companies in managing resources and assets efficiently while achieving their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
The integration of Sigfox 0G technology and ALPS’ asset tracking system will empower AJ Networks and the broader logistics industry in South Korea to optimize their operations, minimize losses, and enhance overall efficiency, contributing to a sustainable and streamlined supply chain.
