Reusable Packaging for Bananas Perspectives from Europe

Fresh Plaza posted an article, albeit somewhat pessimistic, about reusable packaging, pallet standardization and bananas. The report includes interviews with Hans Maagendans, of the German ripening provider Banafood Service, located in Straelen, Germany, as well as  Dutch based advisor  adviser Frits Popma. Opinion from Maagendans expresses concern about the financial implications of reusable crate investment for rental, which from a user perspective is curious, as well as uncertainty about impacts for ripening and product damage. He recommended scaled tests to validate such an approach. Popma, on the other hand, observed that all types of packaging have limitations. Read the article at Fresh Plaza, Banana Box in Decline.
