Microstar Announces Keg Pooling Services to BrewDog and Green Flash Brewing

Microstar is providing two new customers with keg pooling services.

BrewDog

In preparing for the opening its new, 100,000 square foot, advanced Columbus brewery, Scottish craft beer pioneer BrewDog has looked to MicroStar to manage its keg logistics to best address rapidly growing demand.

“We’ve worked with the team at MicroStar for years to efficiently move fresh craft beer across the Atlantic so when it came time to launch in the U.S. in a big way they were our first call for kegs,” said BrewDog Cofounder Martin Dickie. “MicroStar’s experience, scale and commitment to the things that are important to us like quality, technology and customer service set them apart from any other option we’ve seen in the 60 countries we operate in today.”

“BrewDog sent us a keg of Punk IPA and a bottle of their Tactical Nuclear Penguin for our Great American Beer Festival Happy Hour in 2014 and we saw firsthand the commotion their brand and their beer create,” said Dan Vorlage, MicroStar’s Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “Since that time we have admired how their irreverent approach, unrelenting commitment to quality and innovation, and their support of other craft brewers around the world has translated into BrewDog’s continued, explosive growth. We can’t wait to enjoy a Punk IPA brewed in the U.S. in one of the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly breweries in the world.”

The Scottish export started life on the rugged northeast coast of Scotland when James Watt and Martin Dickie set out on a mission to make other people as passionate about great craft beer as they were. Fast forward ten years and the company now employs nearly 1,000 people worldwide, exports from Scotland to 60 countries, and operates 50 bars around the world. ¬†Expansion into the US has been made possible by BrewDog’s innovative business model, Equity for Punks, which is the most successful crowdfunding scheme of any company on record. Green Flash Brewing

In order to benefit from a more flexible and efficient keg supply chain solution, Award-winning Green Flash Brewing Co. has turned to MicroStar Logistics to help it achieve a more responsive and effective keg supply chain. Microstar will deliver their nationwide keg needs under the terms of a long-term partnership agreement.

“When we brewed our first barrel of Green Flash beer 15 years ago, we knew we had something special but couldn’t have imagined the explosive growth we were about to experience,” said Mike Hinkley, Green Flash’s Chairman and Founder. “As it became clear that discriminating beer lovers from coast to coast were looking for Green Flash on tap, we knew we needed to re-evaluate our keg supply chain to make sure we were meeting demand as efficiently as possible while adhering to our uncompromising approach to quality. In MicroStar we have found the kind of people who are committed to being an extension of our operation and have invested in the things that are critical to fast-growing, national breweries like Green Flash.”

“We’ve known Mike and the team at Green Flash for years and have watched with tremendous respect as they’ve grown and evolved,” said MicroStar’s President and CEO, Michael Hranicka. “We saw their addition of new markets, their acquisition of the insanely popular Alpine Brewery and the build out of their Virginia brewery. We knew we had the scale to help them achieve their goals and that our investments in quality, people and technology put us in a unique position to help them win in today’s competitive beer environment. The time was simply right for us to work together and we thank Mike and the Green Flash team for trusting us to meet their keg needs well into the future.”

Over past two decades, MicroStar has established an industry-leading pool of around 3 million kegs and has built solid relationships with approximately 1,600 beer wholesalers.
