With an overall score of 64/100, LPR-La Palette Rouge (a Division of Euro Pool Group) has become the first player in the pallet-pooling sector to be rated “Gold” by EcoVadis for its Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
At the end of 2015, the European pallet-pooling specialist LPR-La Palette Rouge became the first player in its sector to obtain a “CSR Gold Rating” from EcoVadis for its environmental and social responsibility policy. LPR thus moves up from the CSR “Silver” Rating it was awarded in 2013 and 2014, to the highest level of recognition ever assigned by EcoVadis to any company in the pallet-pooling sector. “EcoVadis performs Corporate Social Responsibility audits at the request of large industrial groups, a significant proportion of which are LPR customers,” explains Emmanuelle Raynaud, Manager for the Administration of Sales at LPR, who oversaw the EcoVadis project alongside with Sylvie Briat, Quality Manager, and Isabelle Augerot, Human Resources Manager.
“It uses a collaborative platform for audits based on the main international standards for sustainable development: the United Nations Global Compact, the Global Reporting Initiative and the ISO 26000 Standard,” states Augerot. “It enables our customers to learn about and assess our CSR policy and to ensure that it is consistent with best practice in the field.”
A “golden” rating
LPR’s efforts paid off, and the company obtained the highest score of its sector for 2015: 64/100, compared with 61/100 in 2014 and 56/100 in 2013. An improvement that took it above the level of 62/100 needed to obtain the coveted “CSR Gold Rating”. To obtain this result, its CSR policy had to be audited by EcoVadis’s analysts on 21 criteria grouped into four themes: the environment, social issues, business ethics, and sustainable procurement. Out of these four themes, LPR was seen to have made most progress on its environmental stance. Over the period 2014-2015, La Palette Rouge reduced the number of kilometres travelled, related to its transport hub – an important aspect of its business as a pallet-pooling specialist – by more than 280,000 km, while recording a 7 percent increase in the number of pallets per order. This drop in kilometres travelled, was made possible by the work done in conjunction with some of its customers such as Nestlé, Coca-Cola or Danone at its plant in La Salvetat (Hérault). Another impressive result was the way LPR achieved a 56 percent reduction in its electricity consumption by moving its headquarters to a low consumption building in Balma (Haute-Garonne / France). By subscribing to EcoVadis, the pallet-pooler clearly demonstrates that it is proud of its record and is willing to let customers or suppliers access all the details of its audit, by simply joining the platform.
