Container and Pooling Solutions (CAPS) (www.usecaps.com), was recently named one of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s 2009 Green Supply Chain award recipients. CAPS is highlighted among the elite list of recipients recognized for their efforts to provide green solutions for customers in a variety of industries.
Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s Green Supply Chain Award was developed to recognize small, midsize and large organizations that are taking steps to realize green goals. Each award submission was judged based on the clarity and content of the sustainability initiatives, including the strategy, progress being made, the impact of current and projected results, and the presentation of the information submitted. Of all the submissions received, just 33 were selected as award recipients.
Since 1998, CAPS has been North America’s leading provider of container management solutions, including the rental of stackable, collapsible, reusable containers. In addition to its popular rental services, CAPS offers lifecycle management solutions, including container tracking, cleaning and repair, which enables customers to manage their business with a smaller, more efficient container fleet while ensuring they maximize the life span of their bins. When containers do reach the end of their useful life, they are fully recycled and the plastic is reused for new purposes, keeping them out of landfills.
“CAPS has played a critical role in furthering our customers’ efforts to green their supply chains,” explains Drew Merrill, CAPS’ VP Business Development and Strategic Planning. “Our container management services focus on reducing waste output and increasing payload efficiency, while providing a safer, cleaner and more cost-effective packaging system to deliver their products.”
Leading associations, including the Reusable Packaging Association and Automotive Industry Action Group, are also proactively recognizing and promoting the benefits of returnable containers by hosting educational events on the subject. CAPS actively participated in these open forums with the goal of educating key manufacturing decision makers on the positive environmental and cost impacts of reusable packaging. This year’s Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Award further promotes the importance of manufacturers taking an active role in implementing environmental practices.
For the past 11 years, CAPS has been helping suppliers across North America reduce supply chain waste through the implementation of sustainable practices with reusable containers. CAPS consistently works with the automotive, beverage, food, cosmetic and non-hazardous chemical markets to help mitigate packaging costs while meeting greening standards.
