DM-drogerie markt(DM) Advocates CHEP Pallets

Dm-Drogerie Markt (DM), the leading drugstore company in Austria, has begun using CHEP to distribute products between its distribution centres and is advocating its suppliers also use CHEP.

White-wood pallet exchange is complex and difficult to manage,’ said  Elmar Riepl, DM Inbound Logistics Manager.  “Besides, the quality of white pallets is generally poor, as they are used numerous times across very diverse sectors without being maintained or repaired. We think the CHEP pooling system offers a better solution. As today only about 10% of our incoming goods are shipped on CHEP, there is great potential concerning cost reduction for the whole supply chain.”

DM Inbound Logistics Team Leader, Petra Hackl, said many suppliers had moved to pooled pallets over the last few months. “By doing so, they no longer have to invest in the purchase of white-wood pallets,” Ms Hackl said. “We also hire out pallets from CHEP for shipments between our own distribution centres. By switching to CHEP, we all gain considerable cost savings while fulfilling our commitment to waste reduction, which is one of our key priorities”.

Dm-Drogerie Markt DM-Drogerie Markt is Germany’s second-largest drugstore chain, with more than 2.000 outlets in 11 countries, and sales of more than €5,200 million. In the last decade, DM has recorded strong growth in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia.
